If you are a lute player or are interested in taking up the lute, why not get in touch and have a lesson?
Alongside the 6c. 7c. and 8c. lute repertoire, I can provide tuition for the baroque guitar, vihuela, chitarrone/theorbo, cittern & gittern. As a visiting tutor to the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, I also coach singers and provide workshops in continuo and transcription. Quite often I am asked to coach classical guitarists on style and specific source material of the early repertoire.
I am very happy to give advice on how to source a lute and provide links of where to hire or buy.
Some folks choose to have a one-off lesson, other students like to book more regular sessions, while some get in touch when they are ready. Either-way, the arrangement is very flexible!
Online Tuturing
I use Zoom for online lessons. In these sessions I am able to switch between two camera angles, one of which is specifically set-up for a close-up view of the right and left hand positions. I screen share scores and annotate in real time and I have an external mic for good audio quality. As a follow-up to the lesson, I will email various bespoke recordings, videos and lesson notes. I am also happy to record ‘live’ sections of the session for private reference.
If you want to get started with online tutoring and you would like to register for your free account with Zoom, click on the icon below.
I will provide an initial step-by-step guide to the audio settings required for musicians using Zoom.
Private Tuition
I have a number of one-to-one students both privately and at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. If you are in the UK midlands area and you would like a lesson, get in touch!
