John Dowland – His Legacy

Lecture Recital by Elizabeth Pallett with Amarylli

‘The rarest musician that his age did behold.’  -Thomas Fuller 1662

Famed throughout Europe for his solo lute works and publications of songs, John Dowland was at the epicentre of the golden age of renaissance England. His life was one of mystery, controversy, success and despair.

Investigating the twists and turns of Dowland’s life, Elizabeth Pallett also gives live performances of Dowland’s most famous lute works.

Joined by soprano, Hannah Grove from Amarylli, together they present some of the most beautiful English lute songs ever written.
